Read a lotus root slice: bookbinding for beginners
7/23/2023 4p.m. to 5p.m.
Led by Yuan Annie Zhuang
When was the last time you had fun picking up a fruit or vegetable? What stories do you remember? The act of consuming (grocery shopping, cooking, eating, & of course playing with the food on your plate) produce—a generalized term for a group of farm-produced crops and goods, including fruits and vegetables—might have been the only chance for us urban animals to get in close touch with nature, on a regular day.
This workshop provides you with an opportunity to close encounter one produce item of your choice. We will explore the plant of your choice and compose a narrative around it. After the session, you will have obtained an artist book made by yourself and a deeper bond with the item of your choice. Let’s play with our food seriously for once.
Bring: your love for life and your friend(s) to share the joy. *Feel to bring one or two fruit/vegetable items of your choice, too!
All ages are welcome.
